Is it like the navy, airforce, or army? I am interested in doing research as a career, but I dont want to join NASA if its like the other military branches? I just dont like what the others do like marching, boot camp, going to war, etc. Im just not interested in them, no offense though. My dad is in the military, and my bro, so I am trying to avoid doing things like that. Thanks!

I might be wrong, but I don’t think you can ‘join’ NASA. I think they actively recruit people from other branches of the armed forces.

NASA is nothing like the military. They do, however, use military test pilots to fly their spacecraft.
Get your education, then check out your options… but don’t be afraid of NASA…

NASA is not part of any military branch. They are a separate agency funded and directed by the U.S. government. NASA employees are civil servants. Most of the astronauts had military pilot training, but more than 99% of the NASA employees are not astronauts. ADDED: I would guess that the balance in NASA between former military and those with no military experience at all is roughly equivalent to any private aerospace engineering firm.

Have you considered checking out their website (nasa.gov) to learn more about them?
NASA is primarily a space research/exploration organization
But they do use Air Force pilots for their missions, simply because the USAF pilots have the discipline and training they need for spacecraft.
But NASA itself is not a military organization. It answers to Congress and the President of the US.
