Could NASA figure coating of metal alloys, and polymars, such as Kevlar, to protect the heat shields.? They would burn off on reentry, but would protect them on the way up. Whats your idea?

I’ve noticed that almost all shuttle launches happen in Florida. But I also noticed that a lot of the launches/re-entries are delayed because of bad weather.Wouldn’t it make more sense to base the launches/re-entries in California where it’s sunny a lot more than Florida.

So, I just wanted to know some reasons for WHY they even have space shuttle launches. And also the physics involved in the launching and orbiting of these shuttles, for example the recent Endeavour mission by NASA.
Mainly information on what forces are required for a space shuttle to enter orbit. (Typical shuttle weight, escape speed, basic uses of sending shuttles into space, recent Orbiter Endeavour, etc)

I was under the impression that no probe or anything we have sent out into space has left our galaxy in order to take a picture of the galaxy itself from a distant outside perspective.

Is it like the navy, airforce, or army? I am interested in doing research as a career, but I dont want to join NASA if its like the other military branches? I just dont like what the others do like marching, boot camp, going to war, etc. Im just not interested in them, no offense though. My dad is in the military, and my bro, so I am trying to avoid doing things like that. Thanks!
