Scientists have so accurately known the universe that they can predict the movement of planets and stars for many thousand years. It is possible to predict eclipse accurately in seconds, for many thousands years in advance. It is possible to know the movement of a tiny electron. It is possible to even to send a rocket in another planet.

Yet it is impossible to predict the behaviour of man. Not even for the one who is your best friend or your closest relative. All knowledge of the science seems useless to predict the behaviour of a common man.

Scientists attempted to understand man in the same way as matter and called this science “psychology” which is defined as “The science that deals with mental processes and behavior”.

Yet even after hundreds of years of knowledge produced by the physiologists, hardly any one uses these researches for understanding people. These researches are so contradictory to each other that one can easily find supporting research for any decision he wishes to take or not to take.

Knowing Man Is The Easiest Art

Interestingly, nothing can be easier and simpler than understanding people. Even an illiterate person can understand people easily without reading any book. Even animals like dogs understand man quite accurately and can easily distinguish their friends and enemies. All animals have inborn capability to understand all other species of the world. You don’t have to teach a mother to understand her child nor her child to understand her mother.

The attempt to understand man in scientific way has actually made the matter only complicated and complex without yielding any result. In reality, there is nothing as easy not only to understand man but also know man as one knows oneself. It is foolish to understand man through books which are complex and confusing. Einstein rightly said,

“Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius — and a lot of courage — to move in the opposite direction.”

In the matter of man, every man is a genius as he can understand man easily, naturally and simply.

If understanding man is so easy that even an illiterate man an automatically develop an understanding of human being, why most men make so many mistakes in judging people?

What can be more important than understanding man?

Understanding men can really make a man successful professionally and personally.

Why then we know so little about other men?

The answer is hidden in the question itself.

Most of us want to know man not to love them but to use them for our advantage often at the cost of the other person. We simply want to manipulate the man by knowing him. We have done it successfully to other species of this world and made them our servants. However, how can he same trick work against another man who is as intelligent and capable as we are.

Thus every person gradually learns in his life to be secretive and not to reveal his true self to others for the fear of being cheated.

So most people learn the man not by their direct experience, but from the books which are written with a purpose and a goal. They mostly comes to wrong conclusions as Einstein warned,

“Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking”

However, mere thinking only produces more confusion rather than giving any real understanding of man.

What Prevents Understanding of Man

The biggest hurdle in knowing the man truly is the education of a man. While all children think similarly and have no difficulty in making friends or understanding each other, every expert or educated person have bias against everyone else.

Man gets his education at such an early age that the educated knowledge gets imprinted in the mind of the man very deep. Unless he acquires further knowledge by direct experience, such impressions become permanent in his mind like a line on a stone.

Most people become biased due to education as they develop wrong notions about every person based on their race, religion or caste etc. Later in life , it become extremely difficult to remove these biases as people try to educate themselves more to overcome these biases. The more you read and educate yourselves about people , the more bias one develops.

The only method to know people is by intuition and self learning. The true learning comes only by experience and by self analysis. As a person starts relying on the knowledge acquired by the self, he starts trusting himself more than the books and experts. This gradually leads to unlearning of the knowledge that was the result of education as such knowledge are less and less used and gets faded from the memory of the person.

Developing Intuition

“The only real valuable thing is intuition.” said Einstein. However, it is not easy to develop intuition if one has developed reason and logic which can be used to prove anything.

Intuition that comes from soul is much deeper than reason and logic. It is beyond logic yet not illogical. It is the sixth sense who source is unknown to logical mind. Yet we all are gifted with intuition without which it is impossible to lead a normal life. One can never perform even his day to day work unless he uses intuition in taking decision which is not purely based on logic.

People often confuse their imagination with intuition. While imagination is a wishful thinking, intuition is the representation of truth that comes from the soul. The necessary condition to have the right intuition is by removing the element of self-interest in our imagination which seems to always color even the best intuition. Once man becomes free from the self-interest, his intuition become closest to the reality and the truth.

Knowing A Man as Self

It is easy to now a person once a person has start trusting himself and hence his judgments. It is because every person is connected through each other by a common thread which is often called God, or Spirit or Paramatma. Thus the person knows the other person just like he knows himself due to the connections of the souls with each other. This process is s simple that it requires no learning. It is so easy that everyone can do it provided you have learned all about man from books and scriptures. You have to just put aside all books and learn the man by yourself. Knowing a man is after all not a rocket science that can be written in a book and understood by reading.
